Convert Markdown to PDF

Turn README files and notes into a clean, readable PDF.

Convert Markdown to PDF and turn README files, documentation and personal notes into a document anyone can read. Headings, bold and italic text, lists, links, tables and code blocks are rendered properly, so the PDF looks like formatted text rather than a page of # and * symbols.

Drop in a .md file or paste Markdown straight into the box. Rendering happens inside your browser, so internal docs or unpublished drafts are never sent to a server.

It’s free to use, with no account and no watermark, and there are no command-line tools to install. Several .md files can be converted in one batch, which is handy when a project’s documentation is split across a README, a changelog and a contributing guide.

How to use Markdown to PDF

  1. Add your Markdown

Drop one or more .md files onto the page, or paste Markdown text into the box.

  2. Pick a page size

Choose A4 or US Letter under Page size.

  3. Click Convert to PDF

Press Convert to PDF. The Markdown is rendered and laid out as pages.

  4. Download

Save the PDF to your device and share it.

Which Markdown features are supported

The converter handles the elements people use most in READMEs and notes:

  • Headings from # to ######, paragraphs, bold, italic and inline code.
  • Bulleted and numbered lists, including nested ones.
  • Tables written with pipes and dashes.
  • Fenced code blocks, shown in a monospace font on a shaded background.
  • Links and blockquotes.

Convert a GitHub README to PDF

Open the README on GitHub, click Raw, copy the text and paste it here. Or download the .md file from the repository and drop it in. You’ll get a printable version for offline reading, a client handover or a project report.

Images referenced by relative paths inside a repository may not appear, since the tool only sees the text you give it. Full web addresses to images are more likely to work.

The same approach works for docs hosted on GitLab or Bitbucket, or for any .md file in a downloaded project folder.

Markdown to PDF without Pandoc or VS Code

Developers often reach for Pandoc, which needs a LaTeX installation for PDF output, or a VS Code extension that depends on a bundled browser. Both take setup time. A browser tool skips all of that and works on any computer, including ones where you can’t install software.

Writers who draft in apps like Obsidian, Typora or iA Writer can use the same route. Copy the note as Markdown or export the .md file, drop it here and you’ll have a shareable PDF in a few seconds.

For notes that use no Markdown syntax at all, TXT to PDF gives you more control over font and size.
