Split a PDF
Pull out page ranges or save every page as its own PDF.

Processed on your device. Nothing is uploaded.
Split a PDF into smaller files without installing software. Pull out a single chapter, separate a scanned stack into individual documents, or break a long report into equal parts. You decide where each cut goes, and every piece downloads as its own PDF.
The splitting is done by your browser, not by a remote server. Your PDF is opened on your own device, divided there and handed straight back to you. Bank statements, HR files and signed agreements can be separated without a copy ever leaving your computer or phone.
It’s free to use with no account, no watermark and no cap on daily use. Because nothing has to travel over the internet, even a 500-page scan splits without a long upload wait; the only practical limit is your device’s memory. Each new file keeps the original pages untouched.
How to use Split PDF
Choose a PDF
Drop one PDF file onto the page, or tap to pick it from your device.
Pick how to split
Under How to split, choose By page ranges, Every page as a separate PDF, or Every N pages.
Enter ranges or a page count
For page ranges, type something like 1-3, 4, 7-10; each range becomes one file. For Every N pages, set Pages per file.
Click Split PDF and download
Press Split PDF, then save the new files. They’re created on your device in a few seconds.
Three ways to separate PDF pages
Each mode fits a different job. Choose the one that matches what you need to end up with:
- By page ranges: best when you know exactly which pages belong together, such as pages 1-4 for an invoice and 5-12 for the terms. Separate ranges with commas.
- Every page as a separate PDF: turns a 20-page file into 20 one-page files. Handy for scanned forms where each sheet is a different person’s document.
- Every N pages: cuts the file into equal chunks. Set Pages per file to 2 for double-sided scans, or to 10 to break a long manual into parts.
How to extract pages from a PDF for free
Extracting pages is just a split with one range. To keep only pages 3 to 5, choose By page ranges and type 3-5. To pull out two separate sections into two files, type 3-5, 9-11.
If you want to keep most of a document and drop a handful of pages instead, Remove PDF pages is quicker: you click the pages you don’t want and download what remains.
Splitting PDFs on Mac, Windows and mobile
This splitter works in any modern browser, so the same steps apply on a Windows laptop, a MacBook, a Linux desktop, an Android phone or an iPad. No app download is needed.
Mac users can also split with Preview by dragging page thumbnails out of the sidebar onto the desktop, though it gets tedious for many ranges. On Windows, printing selected pages to Microsoft Print to PDF works for one range at a time. A dedicated tool is faster when you need several files in one go.
Questions people ask
Is this PDF splitter free?
Yes. You can split as many PDFs as you want without paying, signing up or seeing a watermark on the results.
Are my files uploaded when I split a PDF?
No. The PDF is split inside your browser, so the document and the resulting files stay on your device the whole time.
How do I split a PDF into individual pages?
Choose Every page as a separate PDF under How to split, then click Split PDF. Each page is saved as its own file.
Can I split a PDF into equal parts?
Yes. Pick Every N pages and set Pages per file. A 30-page document with the value 10 gives you three 10-page PDFs.
Does splitting reduce quality?
No. The pages are copied into the new files unchanged, so text stays searchable and images keep their resolution.
Why can’t I open my PDF in the splitter?
Password-protected PDFs can’t be opened by the tool. Remove the password first with the Unlock PDF tool, then try again.
